The Keurig K Cup Coffee brewer is an excellent single serve coffee maker that truly lives up to expectations by producing delicious coffee quickly and easily. No messy coffee filters to deal with, just quality cups of coffee made fast and easy.
K Cup Coffee
I personally own the Keurig Special Edition brewer and gifted the same model to my father as a Christmas present two years ago and unlike many “gadgets” or specialty machines that get tucked away somewhere never to be used again–we’re both still using the machine on a daily basis.
Most Keurig brewers have a detachable water reservoir, once this is filled you simply place it back on the unit, power the brewing machine on and its now ready to make many cups of K Cup Coffee before any need to refill the water reservoir again.
The actual process of making the coffee couldn’t be easier, just open up the K Cup box, lift the lid on the brewer, take out a K Cup and place it in the brewer and close the lid. Put your coffee, tea or travel mug underneath the brewing spout and then select the amount of coffee you’d like (on most models there are different sizes marked on the controls like tea cup, coffee mug or large travel cup) some models even have temperature controls.
The coffee brewing is very quick, once you’re ready to select the brew option, the actual coffee brewing process takes less than a minute to complete. Single serve Keurig K Cups are so much more convenient compared to making a large pot of coffee. Some people leave the unit on, but I keep it turned off. When you leave the unit on, the coffee is ready to brew in an instant, whereas if you leave the Keurig machine off then turn it on, it requires a couple minutes to heat up and get ready–the wait is really minimal even so. A possible benefit of leaving the K Cup Coffee machine on, is that you can program it to automatically make coffee at a certain time, for example setting it to brew a K Cup in the morning right when you wake up.
“Ok, I’m sold, but don’t you have to clean the machine at some point, how do you clean it?”
The answer to this is yes, and it’s not a difficult process to clean Keurig K Cup brewers. The product manual for the Keurig B60 Special Edition brewer states that a cleaning of the unit should probably take place once every three to six months. I clean my Keurig brewer once every four months due to having somewhat hard water. You should follow the directions for your particular brewer, but the basics of cleaning involve emptying the water reservoir and filling it with undiluted white vinegar. The cleaning process takes five hours but is no hassle (you basically let the unit rest with the vinegar inside after making a few brewing cycles with just the vinegar and no K Cups, then later flush it out) and is no problem having to do this once every three to six months. The biggest reason to clean the machine once in a while is to keep the calcium build up to a minimum, most Keurig brewers have a warning message if the brewer detects buildup of excess calcium–this lets you know its time you should clean the brewer.
Keurig now offers a variety of K Cup Coffee brewers in different price ranges starting with the “Mini Plus” Keurig K Cup home brewer. This ultra compact mini Keurig brewer has three coffee cup size options and brews K Cups in under two minutes–which is a bit longer time than the other models.

K Cup Coffee comes in patented “K Cups,” the sealed single serve cups are punctured at the top and bottom when you place them in a Keurig brewer and close down the lid. When the brewing process initiates, hot water is forced down through the K Cup and coffee then pours into your waiting coffee mug. Ever get tired of cleaning messy coffee filters? There’s no mess to speak of with the Keurig brewers, the grinds are held in a filter inside the plastic K Cups and this prevents any coffee grinds from making their way in your mug. After you use a K Cup, you simply take it out of the machine and throw it away.
The patented K Cups hold a single serving of coffee and run an average of 9.99 per box of 24. The boxes are usually marked with a freshness date and the sealed cups really hold in the freshness of the coffee–some competing single serve coffee containers lack such excellent packaging.
There are a lot of different companies offering K Cup Coffee ranging in flavors from Pumpkin Spice to Caffeine Free Hazelnut and just about everything you can think of:
